Fred Flaxman places Post-Classical Ensemble at PRX's Compact Discovery Series
NPR host Fred Flaxman presents Compact Discoveries 135: "Score 2 for Virgil," the first complete recordings of the scores for two Great Depression-era U.S. government propaganda and award-winning films: The Plow that Broke the Plains and The River. This award-winning film music, composed by Virgil Thomson in 1935 and 1937, is now available in a new, all-digital Naxos CD, by Washington D.C.'s Post-Classical Ensemble, conducted by Angel Gil-Ordóñez.
